Introduction

He is an infectious disease specialist who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases and is Korea's leading clinical scientist in infectious diseases, especially those occurring before and after chemotherapy or hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in immunocompromised patients such as acute and chronic leukemia, aplastic anemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma. As of December 2023, he has actively published more than 300 domestic and international papers (200 SCI-ranked papers).
His interests include the treatment of bacteria, fungi, and viruses and mechanisms of antibiotic resistance; the study of antibiotic effectiveness using pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics; research on preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic technologies for invasive fungal infections; and vaccine development and clinical trials.
